Personal Notes:
I started riding as cross training for swimming during high school and later for cross training for lacrosse in college. During college, I started doing group rides with other riders at local bike shops. Naturally, I gravitated toward the spandex-laden athletes and I fell in love with the social culture therein. I did a few weekend rides with a local women's team and started racing the next season.
After my first race, I knew I was hooked; I had found my niche. That was 6 years ago and I am still as happy to be on the bike as I was back then. I keep striving to do bigger races, to move up in the pro women's field, and to further the success of my team through my riding.
Last year, I moved with my partner to Portland, Oregon from Michigan. We love it here, as it is a friendly, strange and eclectic place that is welcoming to cyclist of all types. I have never seen so many cyclists and commuters in my life. It's exciting to have bike traffic in the bike lanes in the city.
In addition to being a cyclist, I am also a nurse, a humble cook (well, okay, not that humble), dog-owner, hiker, and foodie.
2012 will be my second year with Team Kenda and I am very excited to start the racing season, to get to know my teammates further, and to race my legs off.
