Personal Notes:
Hi, I'm Denise and this will be my second year on Kenda! It will be my fourth season racing and my second in the Espoir ranks. Last year I got to do a lot more Elite racing, raced my first World Cup and had my first UCI European racing experience. This year I am looking forward to building on that, getting more exposure to racing with the team and getting the chance to work with all the other girls.
Growing up in Yellowknife (northern Canada) I was introduced to endurance sports at an early age. I started cross-country skiing when I was 3 and short track speed skating when I was four. I raced as a short track speed skater competitively for 12 years but then I decided I needed a change and cycling was the answer. I have grown to love everything about the sport from the training to the intensity and excitement of racing. I've always been an endurance athlete and cycling has been an amazing way to test that.
The past two years I have had the chance to race at Junior Worlds and that has been an amazing experience. Again last year I had some more international exposure with the Canadian National Team and that helped to open my eyes to the larger world of cycling. I hope to be able to compete at Elite Worlds some where along the line and representing Canada in the Olympics is something I've always dreamed of. This year I am hoping to get into the Elite race scene a little more and see what happens!!
